    Police, Customs Seize EC$66,000 Worth of Cannabis at V.C. Bird International Airport

    _POLICE AND CUSTOMS SEIZE $66,000 WORTH OF CANNABIS AT V.C. BIRD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT_

    St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Thursday, August 20, 2026

    The Police and Customs Enforcement Unit have seized approximately 11 pounds of cannabis during a joint drug interdiction operation at the V.C. Bird International Airport, on Wednesday, August 19.

    During the operation, law enforcement officers discovered a brown cardboard box containing 11 vacuum-sealed packages of vegetable material resembling cannabis.

    The packages were seized and transported to Police Headquarters for further investigation. The substance was subsequently weighed and amounted to approximately 11 pounds, with an estimated street value of EC$66,000.

    The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda continues to work closely with other law enforcement partners to strengthen border security and disrupt the illegal trafficking of controlled substances into the country.

    Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
