A 20-year-old Clare Hall man who reportedly accidentally shot himself with a modified firearm has pleaded guilty to unlawfully manufacturing and possessing the weapon and ammunition.
Sekani Isaac entered the pleas in the St. John’s Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was remanded to His Majesty’s Prison for sentencing on Aug. 26.
Isaac appeared with a blood-stained bandage on his left hand and was ordered to receive medical attention after telling the court the wound was still bleeding.
Police began investigating on Aug. 8 after receiving information from the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. A subsequent search of Isaac’s home reportedly uncovered a modified pipe gun with a spent round lodged in the barrel.
