    MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda continues to record positive results from its ongoing crime-fighting initiative, Operation Exercise “Restore Confidence,” following the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, licence plates, camouflage clothing, and vehicles.

On Wednesday, August 19, a team of police officers from various departments and districts conducted a series of stop-and-search exercises and executed search warrants in Golden Grove, Nut Grove, Jonas Road, and Liberta areas.

During a stop-and-search operation along Nut Grove Road, a white Toyota motor car was intercepted and searched, and one 9mm firearm and eleven matching rounds of ammunition were discovered inside the vehicle. Three persons were subsequently taken into police custody on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Search Warrants were also executed at residences in Jonas Road and Liberta.

During the search of a home in Liberta, the police discovered and seized three pairs of licence plates and camouflage clothing. Two persons were subsequently arrested for possession of camouflage clothing and suspicion of stolen licence plates.

Several other vehicles were stopped and searched during the operation, and four vehicles that were found to be unlicensed and uninsured were seized and transported to the Antigua and Barbuda Motor Pool.

The latest success forms part of the Police Administration’s sustained efforts under Operation Restore Confidence to strengthen the police presence throughout communities, disrupt criminal activity, remove illegal firearms from the streets, and improve public safety.

The police are encouraging members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement and to report any information concerning illegal firearms, ammunition, stolen property, or other criminal activity.

All information provided to the police will be treated with the strictest confidence.
