The Ministry of Works is mourning the death of Public Works Department employee Omari Philip, who died Friday morning after being hospitalized following a shooting on All Saints Road.

Philip worked as a heavy equipment operator with the department.

According to the ministry, Philip was carrying out his duties on July 14 when he was the victim of a suspected drive-by shooting. He remained hospitalized at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre until his death.

The ministry extended condolences to Philip’s family, friends and colleagues and urged anyone with information about the shooting to assist authorities in bringing those responsible to justice.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with his loved ones during this difficult time,” the ministry said.
