The inaugural Interschool Warri Championship took place today, February 28, 2026, at the J.E. St. Luce Building in St. John’s, Antigua. The event brought together primary and secondary schools from across Antigua and Barbuda to compete in the traditional African board game, WarrI.
The championship was a celebration of identity, resilience, and the enduring power of tradition, marking a significant step in reintroducing Warri to younger generations.
The official results of the championship are as follows:
1st Place – Dimitri Riley of Sir Novelle Richards Academy
2nd Place – Genesis Daniel of Pares Primary School
3rd Place – Owen Williams of Antigua Grammar School .
The event was a huge success, with students showcasing their strategic skills and cultural pride.
The Department of Culture, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, organized the event to promote cultural heritage and youth engagement.
