    GRENADIAN OLYMPIC MEDALIST LINDON VICTOR OBE TO DELIVER FEATURE ADDRESS AT 2024 NATIONAL SPORTS AWARDS

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Friday, February 27th, 2026, St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. The Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries is proud to announce that Grenadian Olympic and World Championship medalist Lindon Victor, OBE, will serve as the Guest Speaker at the 2025 National Sports Awards.

    The prestigious ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 1 March 2026, and will recognize the outstanding sporting achievements of Antigua and Barbuda’s athletes, coaches, and administrators for the year 2025.

    Lindon Victor OBE is recognised as one of the Caribbean’s leading multi-event athletes and a national hero in Grenada, having built an impressive international career in the decathlon characterised by consistency and strength, particularly in the throwing events. He won the Bronze Medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics with 8,711 points, following appearances at the Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and secured Bronze at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, where he set his personal best and national record of 8,756 points. A two-time Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist (2018 and 2022) and two-time NCAA Division I Champion at Texas A&M University, Victor previously held the collegiate decathlon record. Standing at 6’3”, he demonstrates particular prowess in the discus and javelin, with a collegiate-best discus throw of 55.22m and javelin marks exceeding 70 metres, including 71.56m at the Tokyo Olympics. His brother Kurt Felix is also an Olympian, and together they once held the record for the highest combined decathlon score by siblings. In 2024, Victor was honoured with an appointment as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his contribution to sport, and his journey reflects dedication, perseverance, and excellence.
