The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) has announced plans to conduct a live-firing military exercise later this week.

In a public notice issued on Monday, the force said the exercise will take place on Friday, 23 January, starting at 2:00pm and ending at 10:00pm.

Residents in nearby communities have been warned they may hear loud explosive sounds during the operation. The ABDF has advised the public not to be alarmed, stressing that strict safety protocols will be in place throughout the exercise.

The notice was issued from the Defence Force’s headquarters at Camp Blizzard in St George’s.

The ABDF said the exercise forms part of its ongoing training programme and thanked the public for its cooperation and understanding, noting that such activities are aimed at maintaining high levels of preparedness and professionalism.
