Prime Minister Gaston Browne says music produced under his “Gassy Dread” artistic persona has already begun generating royalty income, with official releases scheduled for global digital platforms in the coming weeks.

Speaking on his Browne and Browne radio programme, Browne said he has written and produced a catalogue of songs that will be uploaded to major streaming and download services, including Spotify and iTunes, by the end of January or early February .

He said the project has already earned more than $70,000 in royalties as advance payments, despite the music not yet being formally released to the public on digital platforms. Browne described the earnings as confirmation that the material has commercial viability beyond local audiences.

The prime minister also announced that a new single titled Reparations is scheduled for launch in Jamaica next week, followed by a global release. He said the track is intended to serve as a broad international anthem tied to the reparations movement, rather than a commercial novelty.

Browne said while the project was not initially conceived as a revenue-generating venture, it has evolved into an example of how creative work can intersect with technology, culture and global distribution. He added that the initiative is also intended to demonstrate how Caribbean creatives can leverage digital platforms to reach international markets.

The prime minister said additional releases are planned throughout the year as the catalogue is rolled out across streaming services worldwide .
