Preparations for the upcoming Caribbean Parliamentary Assembly are nearing completion, according to government officials.

Addressing questions at Thursday’s post-Cabinet media briefing, Director General of Communications in the Prime Minister’s Office Maurice Merchant said Antigua and Barbuda is ready to host the regional gathering, which is scheduled to take place next month.

“As we would have announced last week, preparations are nearing completion,” Merchant said.

He said officials have been advised that all major arrangements are in place ahead of the arrival of parliamentarians from across the region.

“It is anticipated that Caribbean parliamentarians will descend on Antigua and Barbuda for that very important meeting,” Merchant said.

Merchant said the update reflects confidence among organizers that the country is prepared to host the assembly.

“We have been told that all is in place for the hosting of that meeting,” he said.

The meeting forms part of a series of international and regional events Antigua and Barbuda is preparing to host in the coming months.
