Antigua and Barbuda can expect cloudy and unsettled conditions on Thursday as moisture and instability associated with a tropical wave affect the Leeward Islands and British Virgin Islands.

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service is forecasting showers and thunderstorms during the day, with conditions expected to gradually improve later.

Possible rainfall totals range from 5 to 25 millimetres, or 0.2 to one inch.

Temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 31°C, or 88°F, with a low of 25°C, or 77°F.

Tonight is expected to be partly cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers.

Winds will blow from the east at 15 to 30 km/h, while seas are expected to reach 1.8 to 2.4 metres, or six to eight feet. A small craft advisory remains in effect.

The forecast is valid through 8 a.m. Friday, September 11.

The Meteorological Service has indicated that tropical-wave activity is maintaining an elevated chance of showers and thunderstorms across the Leeward Islands before more stable conditions develop.
