This verse rises over Antigua and Barbuda today — a promise strong enough to stand even under grey skies.

When Rain Meets a Nation Ready to Pray

This morning, steady rainfall washed across our island. Roads were wet, skies were heavy, and for many, attending their local church or the national gathering became difficult.

Even though the rain could have kept us apart, it could not keep us from prayer.

I was blessed to gather at my own local church for our 6–7 AM prayer session. Outside, the rain poured. Inside, hearts poured out to God.

What could have discouraged us instead became a moving experience — a reminder that when God’s people choose prayer over obstacles, He meets them with strength, unity, and hope.

But while some were able to gather, many were not — and that is perfectly understandable. The weather changed plans.

But it did not change purpose.

And that is where the good news enters the story.

When We Cannot Gather, God Still Provides a Place to Pray

God meets us where we are, not only where we planned to be.

He met Moses in the wilderness. He met Daniel in a lions’ den. He met Paul and Silas in a prison. He met the disciples in an upper room.

And today, He meets us in our homes.

Even though you may not have been able to attend a service, your home can become your sanctuary.

Your family can become your prayer circle. Your living room can become your altar.

Below is the same prayer guide we used at church — offered to you so you can join the nation in prayer wherever you are.

HOME PRAYER GUIDE FOR FAMILIES & INDIVIDUALS

1. Acknowledging God as Protector & Provider

Scripture:

Psalm 121:7–8

Hymn:

Great Is Thy Faithfulness — Hymn 100

First Line:

“Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father…”

Even though storms rise, God’s protection remains steady. Pray aloud, thanking Him for watching over your home and asking Him to continue covering Antigua & Barbuda.

2. Prayer for Repentance

Scripture:

Psalm 51:10

Hymn:

Just As I Am — Hymn 313

First Line:

“Just as I am, without one plea…”

Even though we fall short, God invites us close. Quietly confess areas needing His cleansing and ask Him to heal the nation.

3. Prayer for God’s Direction & Protection

Scripture:

Proverbs 3:5–6

Hymn:

Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah — Hymn 538

First Line:

“Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah…”

Even though the future may feel uncertain, God’s guidance is sure. Pray for wisdom for leaders, safety for citizens, and divine covering over the nation.

4. Prayer for Mercy, Hope & Thanksgiving

Scripture:

Lamentations 3:22–23

Hymn:

Count Your Blessings — Hymn 563

First Line:

“When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed…”

Even though challenges rise, God’s mercies rise higher. Speak gratitude aloud, pray for those in need, and ask God to fill your home with hope.

A Word of Hope for Antigua & Barbuda

Today’s rain may have changed our movements,

but it did not change our mission.

It may have kept some from gathering,

but it did not keep God from hearing.

It may have closed some doors,

but it opened others — including the door of your home.

Let the showers remind us that God is still cleansing, refreshing, and renewing our land. Let this weather remind us that prayer is not confined to buildings — it lives in hearts willing to seek God.

As Bill and Gloria Gaither remind us in their beloved hymn Because He Lives, “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.”

Let that truth settle over Antigua andBarbuda today — rain or shine, God holds our future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.
