– Antigua and Barbuda was proudly represented at the 6th edition of the World Nomad Games, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from August 30th to September 7th, 2026.

After three grueling days of travel, the national team comprising athletes Terrance ‘Kambui’ Charles and Denise Francis, and coach Trevor Simon, participated in the

Parade of Nations on August 31st, 2026. The opening ceremony brought together 104 countries to celebrate nomadic heritage and sport.

The World Nomad Games were created to highlight and protect traditional games and sports worldwide.

The 6th edition featured competitions in Archery, Horseback Riding, Wrestling, Judo, and the intellectual board games of Oware, Togyz Kumalak, and Mangala. These three strategy games are played professionally and competitively across Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa.

Beyond competition, the Games serve to bring people together, share culture, generate friendship, and create economic opportunities between nations. The cross-cultural benefits extend across borders, with participants ranging from students to professionals in various disciplines.

Antigua and Barbuda’s participation marks another step in showcasing the nation’s commitment to cultural exchange and the preservation of global heritage.

On the competition floor, Kambui Charles secured 5 wins from 7 rounds in Oware/Warri. Kambui learned the game of Toguz one day before competing, and he won 1 of 8 rounds in Togyz Kumalak. Denise Francis competed fiercely with 3 wins from 7 rounds in Oware/Warri and 4 wins from 8 rounds in Togyz Kumalak.
