Antigua and Barbuda educator and software developer Erwin McPherson has launched Chantel Alert, a new mobile application designed to provide residents with emergency alerts and other important community information.

McPherson, founder of McNova Solutions, said the app is now live on the Google Play Store for Android devices, with an iOS version expected to follow.

Chantel Alert brings several types of information together on one platform, including emergency alerts, missing-person notices, severe weather information, public safety updates, public notices and news.

Government ministries, public agencies and other authorized organizations are expected to use the platform to communicate information directly to residents.

The app will also allow local news organizations, businesses, NGOs and other organizations to register and share information with users.

McPherson said his goal is to create a platform that connects public agencies, news organizations, businesses and the wider community while helping people remain informed and safe.

He is encouraging Android users across Antigua and Barbuda to download the application and explore its features.

Chantel Alert is currently available through the Google Play Store, while the developer says an iOS release is coming soon.
