The government is considering developing a pond behind Jolly Beach into a recreational lagoon offering kayaking and other water sports.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne disclosed the idea during the Browne and Browne Show while discussing the possible rehabilitation and recreational use of ponds and wetlands.

“Another area that we looked at to have a similar facility is this pond behind Jolly Beach,” Browne said.

He suggested that the pond could be deepened and transformed into an attractive lagoon suitable for kayaking and other water-based activities.

The proposal could add another recreational attraction to the Jolly Beach area and expand the range of tourism activities available there.

However, Browne did not indicate whether an environmental or feasibility assessment had been completed.

No estimated cost, construction timetable or details about the proposed operators were announced, indicating that the idea remains at a preliminary stage.
