ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — Three healthcare professionals from the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre recently participated in a Caribbean sub-regional workshop on Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) critical care management held in Barbados.

Dr. Tessy Fenton Lee, consultant paediatrician; Gail Ann Fortune, consultant intensivist; and Germira Browne, ICU unit manager, attended the five-day training aimed at strengthening clinical capacity to manage severe respiratory infections and other critical conditions.

The workshop combined evidence-based clinical guidance with simulation-based training designed to improve preparedness and response during seasonal epidemics and pandemics.

The medical centre said the participation forms part of ongoing efforts by its staff to pursue continuing education opportunities that enhance professional competencies and strengthen the delivery of critical care services.
