Longtime Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Caribbean Airlines, Garvin Medera has resigned from the position, according to a report from the Trinidad Express.

His resignation, after eight years in the post, follows an ultimatum given by Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar earlier this year.

In August, Persad Bissessar told the state airline’s management that they would be replaced within two years if they didn’t “sort out the mess” of the company’s operations. The CEO’s exit also comes after the airline’s board resigned following the country’s general elections in April.

The airline has been under increased scrutiny and several high-ranking members of the finance team have been dismissed or placed on leave in recent months, according to the report.

Additionally, Caribbean Airlines recently announced that, effective November 2, 2025, the airline will discontinue services between Kingston and Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in order to optimise its network.
