The UWI Global Campus Guild of Students, Antigua Chapter is pleased to introduce its Executive Team for the 2026/2027 academic year. The team is committed to representing students, advocating for them and supporting them throughout their studies.
The UWI Global Campus is the online campus of The University of the West Indies. It serves a regional community of students in about 16 Caribbean countries. It was created so that working people can pursue higher education without stepping away from their jobs, families and communities. Many of its students balance full-time work with study, and the Guild of Students works to make sure their voices are heard and their needs are met.
Meet the 2026/2027 Executive Team
Makiba Ward, Chapter Chair:
leads the Chapter, coordinates the Executive Committee and represents Antigua’s students at regional and institutional levels.
Samantha Wallace, Vice Chapter Chair:
supports the Chair and oversees chapter operations and continuity.
Liane Daniel, Secretary:
keeps the Chapter’s records and manages its official communications.
Kimberly Thomas-Lawrence, Treasurer:
manages the Chapter’s finances and makes sure its funds are properly accounted for.
Kellonda Burke-Lawrence, Academic Student Representative:
takes students’ academic concerns to the Guild and Campus and champions initiatives that support their success.
Gabrielle Dryden, Postgraduate Representative:
represents the interests and needs of postgraduate students in the Chapter.
Anizia Vigo, Committee Liaison Officer:
links the Executive Committee with the chapter committees so information flows and activities are carried out.
Regional Representation
Chapter Chair Makiba Ward also serves on the Regional Guild of Students of the UWI Global Campus as Vice President for Administration, Sites and Services. This gives Antigua and Barbuda’s students a direct voice at the regional level.
Campus Leadership
The Chapter works closely with Ms. Coleen Letlow, Head of Site for the UWI Global Campus, Antigua and Barbuda. Her support is vital to the student experience at the local site.
Looking Ahead
The Chapter’s first major event of the year is its Honour Roll Ceremony and Guild Induction on November 15th, 2026. The ceremony will honour students who showed academic excellence during Semesters 1 and 2 of the 2025/2026 academic year. It will also formally induct the 2026/2027 Guild Executive. The event celebrates the hard work and dedication of students who pursue excellence while balancing their studies with work, family and community life.
Over the rest of the year, the Executive will also host initiatives, engagement activities and advocacy efforts to strengthen the student community. Students are encouraged to follow the Chapter’s social media pages, share their feedback and get involved.
