Consumers in Antigua and Barbuda paid more for clothing and footwear in July 2026 compared with a year earlier, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) figures.

The National Bureau of Statistics reported that the overall

Clothing and Footwear index increased 6.6%

over the 12 months ending July 2026.

The increase was even sharper for clothing alone, with the

    Clothing index rising 8.8% year-on-year

    . Within that category,

    Garments increased 10.3%

, indicating some of the strongest price pressure for consumers purchasing apparel.

Footwear prices moved differently over the 12-month period, with the Footwear index declining

    2.3%

, according to the CPI tables.

However, prices rose across both categories during July itself. The overall Clothing and Footwear index increased

    5.4% between June and July

    , with Clothing rising

    5.1%

    and Footwear jumping

    6.5%

    for the month.

The increases came as Antigua and Barbuda’s overall inflation rate reached

    4.4% in July

, meaning the annual rise in clothing prices outpaced headline inflation.

The figures were contained in the July 2026 CPI released by the National Bureau of Statistics under the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Governance.
