Leader of the Opposition Jamale Pringle has held talks with Brazil’s Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Márcia Donner Abreu, focusing on strengthening relations between the two countries.

According to the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, the meeting highlighted a shared interest in further expanding and developing existing ties between Brazil and Antigua and Barbuda.

Photos released following the talks showed Pringle and Ambassador Abreu engaged in discussions and exchanging a handshake.

Abreu serves as Brazil’s Ambassador to Barbados and is concurrently accredited to Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis. Her appointment was approved by Brazil’s Senate earlier this year.

The meeting comes as Brazil has been placing increased emphasis on its engagement with Caribbean nations, including through broader Brazil-Caribbean cooperation.
