Residents and stakeholders are invited to participate in the Final Validation Workshop for the draft Marine Spatial Plan and Natural Resources Management Plan for Nelson’s Dockyard National Park.

The draft plans have reached the final validation stage. The workshop will give community members an opportunity to review what is proposed, ask questions and contribute their knowledge of the land, coast and marine areas within the park.

Location: Events Center, Officers’ Quarters, Long Hall, Nelson’s Dockyard

Discussions will include:

• Pollution and waste management

• Marine-area designation

• Areas for conservation, fishing priority and other marine uses

• Management priorities for land, coastal and marine ecosystems

• The governance framework

Residents, civil-society organisations, private-sector representatives, fisherfolk, farmers, and stakeholders in the marine, fisheries and tourism sectors are encouraged to attend.

The plans are being developed under the EbA Caribbean Project by the Centre of Excellence for Oceanography and the Blue Economy (COBE) at The University of the West Indies, Five Islands. The project is implemented within Nelson’s Dockyard National Park by Integrated Health Outreach in collaboration with the National Parks Authority and funded by the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund.
