Prime Minister Gaston Browne says the new Upland Development at Antigua Cruise Port is on track for its planned November opening, following a tour of the facility on Tuesday.

Browne welcomed the development, saying its spacious layout, modern design and range of commercial offerings would improve the experience for cruise visitors.

The complex is expected to feature retail stores, restaurants, a day club and swimming pool, adding to the attractions already available at Heritage Quay and Redcliffe Quay.

Browne said all commercial spaces have been leased, with individual tenants now responsible for completing their shop interiors ahead of the opening.

He also said the infrastructure would be completed in time, while separate teams continue preparations for the upcoming cruise season.

The prime minister believes the new facility could encourage visitors to return to Antigua and Barbuda or recommend the destination to others.

The development is also expected to be accessible to residents, including the pool, although management rules will govern its use.

The Upland Development is part of the Government’s partnership with Global Ports Holding to redevelop the St John’s waterfront, increase visitor spending and strengthen Antigua and Barbuda’s position in the Caribbean cruise market.
