_POLICE LAUNCH MURDER INVESTIGATION INTO DEATH OF OMARI PHILIP_

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda

Police have launched a murder investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 39-year-old Omari Philip of Swetes, who succumbed to injuries he sustained in a shooting incident, along All Saints Road.

Philip was reportedly shot multiple times shortly after 9:00 p.m. on July 14, 2026.

Investigations into the incident revealed that two armed suspects, reportedly dressed in dark clothing exited a white Toyota Axio motor and discharged several rounds at Philip. He was transported to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remained hospitalized.

He was pronounced dead at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Friday, August 14.

The Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, or seen a vehicle fitting the description in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

A cash reward is being offered for information that assists the police in solving this homicide and bringing those responsible to justice.

The Police Administration extends condolences to the family of Mr. Philip, and assures the public that investigators will continue to pursue all available leads in an effort to bring this matter to a successful closure.
