    ABRSC Announces Winners of 2026 Essay Competition

    The Antigua and Barbuda Reparations Support Commission (ABRSC) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2026 Essay Competition, held under the theme _“Reparatory Justice: Reflection and Projection.”_

    This year’s competition attracted submissions from students of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, the Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS), as well as secondary and primary schools across the nation. The essays were highly creative, well-researched, and demonstrated a strong grasp of the subject matter.

    Dr. Lenworth Johnson, Coordinator of the competition, commended the participants, noting: _“All winners performed exceptionally across the four judging criteria – clarity, historical awareness, structure, and language. Their essays were imaginative, insightful, and enriched with vivid imagery.”_

    The winners in each category are as follows:

    Category 1: University Students

    • First Place: Elena Etinoff
    • Second Place: Neilisha Maragh
    • Third Place: Makkedah Lawrence

    Category 2: Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies / Secondary Schools

    • First Place: Shemika David (Clare Hall Secondary School)
    • Second Place: Uriah Francis (ABCAS – Dr. Alister Francis Campus)
    • Third Place: Ariana Goodluck (ABCAS – Eustace Hill Campus)

    The ABRSC extends its deep appreciation to all participating students and institutions for their commitment to promoting education, critical thinking, and awareness of reparatory justice and African-Caribbean history.

    Prizes

    • _Category 1_ : First Place – EC$600; Second Place – $400; Third Place – $250, plus books
    • _Category 2_ : First Place – EC$500; Second Place – $300; Third Place – $150, plus books
