Regional leaders have extended congratulations to Prime Minister Gaston Browne following his Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s (ABLP) decisive victory in Thursday’s general elections.

Among the first to respond was Roosevelt Skerrit, who described the outcome as “a resounding vote of confidence” from the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Dominica, I extend warm congratulations to my friend and comrade, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, on his commanding victory,” Skerrit said.

He noted that the result returns Browne and the ABLP to office for a fourth consecutive term, adding that Dominica looks forward to strengthening its partnership with Antigua and Barbuda in pursuit of shared regional priorities.

“We in Dominica look forward to strengthening our partnership with Prime Minister Browne and his Government in pursuit of shared regional priorities and the well-being of our people,” he said.

In Barbados, Prime Minister Mia Mottley also issued a statement congratulating Browne on what she described as a renewed mandate.

“The result reflects the decision of the Antiguan and Barbudan people and the responsibility now entrusted to Prime Minister Browne to continue guiding the country with purpose, steadiness, and a clear commitment to national development,” Mottley said.

She added that Barbados values its longstanding relationship with Antigua and Barbuda and looks forward to continued collaboration through CARICOM and beyond.

“Across our Caribbean family, every democratic exercise carries meaning beyond the moment… leadership in small island states is never only about office, but about service,” she said.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago Opposition Leader Penny Beckles also joined in offering congratulations, describing Browne as “my brother” and reaffirming a commitment to regional unity.

“We look forward to continued collaboration in the spirit of Caribbean unity and partnership, and reaffirm our commitment to strengthening ties between our nations,” Beckles said.

The statements reflect a broader regional response to the election results, which saw Browne secure a historic fourth consecutive term in office, further consolidating his position within Caribbean political leadership.

The expressions of support from across the region also signal expectations of continued cooperation on shared issues, including economic development, regional integration, and collective representation within CARICOM.
