Coteen Francis, a 32-year-old of Grays Farm, has been remanded to prison after appearing in court on multiple firearm-related charges stemming from a weekend shooting.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel and was remanded until July 22. Attorney Lawrence Daniel is representing him.

Francis is charged with shooting with intent to murder, discharging a firearm in a public place, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Police say the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on April 26 along Queen Elizabeth Highway, near ‘Timmy Times’, where an Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party concert had been taking place. A 28-year-old man was reportedly struck by gunfire after a silver vehicle passed through the area.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries initially considered non-life-threatening but later underwent surgery.
