Prime Minister Gaston Browne has pledged to govern with discipline and accountability after securing an unprecedented fourth consecutive term, while thanking voters for what he described as rejecting “slander” during the election campaign.

Addressing supporters following the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s (ABLP) decisive victory, Browne said the outcome represents a clear mandate grounded in trust.

“There will be no abuse of the trust that you have reposed in us,” Browne said, signalling a firm approach to governance in the new term.

He also pointed to the tone of the campaign, arguing that voters had made a conscious decision in the face of criticism directed at his administration.

“You rejected the slander… you rejected the misinformation,” Browne told supporters, framing the result as both a political and moral endorsement of his leadership.

The ABLP secured 15 of the 17 seats in Thursday’s general election, extending its hold on government and cementing Browne’s position as the country’s longest-serving modern political leader with four consecutive terms.

Browne used the moment to underscore expectations for his administration, warning that there would be little tolerance for breaches of public trust.

“We will work even harder… and we will ensure that we govern in your best interest at all times,” he said.

At the same time, he struck a unifying tone, urging supporters not to gloat and instead focus on national development.

“This victory is not about division… it is about building Antigua and Barbuda for all,” Browne said.

He reiterated that development efforts would continue across the country, regardless of political affiliation, and pledged that no community would be left behind.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come as his administration prepares to begin a new term with a commanding parliamentary majority, following what has been described as one of the most decisive electoral victories in recent history.
