Antigua and Barbuda’s swimmers delivered one of their strongest performances of the competition, securing four gold and two bronze medals on the third night of finals at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships.

The medal surge was led by standout performances from Madison MacMillan, Ellie Shaw and Anya DeGannes, as the team also set two national records and three age-group records during the session.

MacMillan captured gold in the girls’ 1500 metres freestyle, while Shaw produced a dominant showing with two gold medals. She won the 200 metres individual medley in record-breaking fashion, setting both a national and age-group record along with a personal best, before adding another gold in the 50 metres breaststroke.

DeGannes also struck gold in the 200 metres butterfly, delivering a national age-group record and personal best performance. She later returned to place fourth in the 200 metres individual medley, again recording an age-group record and personal best.

Kaylee Warner secured a bronze medal in the 100 metres freestyle with a personal best swim, while Alessandro Bazzoni added another bronze in the 200 metres butterfly, also achieving a personal best.

Additional finalists contributed to the team’s overall showing. Christopher Walter finished sixth in both the 100 metres freestyle and 200 metres individual medley, while Selah Wiltshire placed eighth in the 50 metres breaststroke, recording a personal best.

The results cap another highly successful night for Antigua and Barbuda, with swimmers continuing to deliver podium finishes and record-breaking performances across multiple events.
