Former parliamentarian Eustace “Teco” Lake will be laid to rest today following an official funeral, as Antigua and Barbuda honours his life and public service.
Lake, who died in February after a prolonged illness, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2009 and won re-election in 2014. He later served in the Ministry of Works.
He battled kidney disease for several years and was among the first patients to undergo a kidney transplant at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Despite the procedure, his health challenges persisted.
After stepping away from electoral politics, Lake was appointed to the Senate following the 2018 general elections.
Members of Parliament paid tribute to him on Friday, recalling his dedication to public service and his personable nature, often describing him as someone who maintained a constant smile and a genuine connection with people.
