CMW New Winthorpes Lions secured the 2026 Two-Day Championship with a commanding victory over PIC Liberta Blackhawks, powered by a standout all-round performance from West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph.
Joseph led a dramatic recovery in the Lions’ first innings, scoring 97 as the team rallied from 41 for 5 to post 183 all out. His aggressive knock included 10 sixes and five fours, while Tyrone Williams Jr added 46. For Liberta, Javier Spencer claimed 3 for 31.
Joseph then dominated with the ball, producing figures of 8 for 24, including a hat-trick, to bowl out the Blackhawks for 146 and give New Winthorpes a 37-run first-innings lead.
In their second innings, the Lions were dismissed for 185, with Joseph contributing 61 and Demari Benta adding 42. Rahkeem Cornwall led Liberta’s bowling effort with 5 for 42.
Chasing a target of 223, Liberta struggled to 61 for 4 before play was halted, confirming New Winthorpes Lions as champions.
