The Barbuda Branch of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) is calling on the Chair of Finance of the Barbuda Council to urgently implement the long-promised 5% salary increase for all council workers.

While government workers across Antigua and Barbuda have already benefited from the approved salary adjustment, council workers in Barbuda have yet to receive this increase. The ABLP notes that this disparity creates an unacceptable inequity among public servants and risks undermining morale within the Barbuda workforce.

ABLP Political Candidate Kendra Beazer underscored the importance of ensuring fairness and consistency across all levels of public service.

“Council workers are the backbone of Barbuda’s local governance and community services. They deserve the same recognition and fair treatment as their counterparts across Antigua and Barbuda. The 5% increase is not just a promise—it is a right that must be honored without delay,” Beazer stated.

The ABLP Barbuda Branch is urging the Barbuda Council to act decisively by ensuring the immediate implementation of the salary increase, aligning its policies with national standards, and demonstrating a clear commitment to the welfare and dignity of its workers.

The Branch maintains that this is a matter of fairness and equity, and that council workers in Barbuda must not be left behind as national commitments are fulfilled.

The ABLP Barbuda Branch reaffirms its support for Barbuda’s workers and calls for swift action to resolve this matter in the interest of justice and good governance.
