The Booby Alley Housing Project remains on schedule and within budget, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has confirmed, expressing satisfaction with the progress made on the redevelopment effort in the Point community.

“I am very pleased with the progress made so far,” Browne said following a site visit on Monday, where he was joined by Ambassador Clarence Pilgrim, head of the oversight committee, along with representatives from the Chinese Embassy and the construction company, CCECC.

The Prime Minister, a former contractor, engaged with project officials on key construction details, including the height of the buildings and the depth of the pylons supporting the foundations.

“From all indications, the project is within budget and the timelines that were set. As has been indicated, this project should be completed by the middle of next year and it will deliver 150 two-bedroom properties to the former residents of Booby Alley,” Browne stated. “These are going to be climate-resilient homes, providing a significant upgrade in quality, comparable to any in other parts of the world. This is a truly transformational project that will change lives.”

With occupation set for mid-2026, the redevelopment aligns with other major projects planned for the area, including a tourism facility on Lower Newgate Street and the construction of a new headquarters for the Antigua Department of Marine Services (ADOMS). Officials anticipate significant transformation in the vicinity over the next 12 to 18 months.

The Booby Alley Housing Project is funded by the People’s Republic of China. The construction site will be fenced and landscaped ahead of residents moving in next year.
