The Parham Fisheries Complex has undergone a major clean-up as part of a coordinated effort involving fisheries officials, the office of St. Philip’s North MP Randy Baltimore and inmates from His Majesty’s Prison.
Baltimore said the exercise was spearheaded by Parham Fisheries Complex Manager Piet Jeffrey, with assistance from his office, the Fisheries Division and prison inmates.
Photos shared following the exercise show large quantities of discarded fishing gear, debris and other waste being removed from sections of the facility.
Baltimore praised those involved, describing the exercise as an example of teamwork and collaboration.
He said the clean-up has created a cleaner and more welcoming environment for fishers, employees and others who use the complex.
“Thank you to Mr Jeffrey and everyone who rolled up their sleeves and got the job done,” Baltimore said.
The latest effort follows previous clean-up and improvement initiatives at the Parham Fisheries Complex, where waste accumulation and the condition of the facility have been raised as concerns over the years.
Baltimore said work within the constituency will continue.
