The Antigua and Barbuda Pitbulls left the country Monday for St. Lucia to compete in the fifth annual Aloysius Daniel Youth Classic.

The tournament, which runs from Aug. 17-21 at the Beausejour Indoor Stadium, will feature teams from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and host country St. Lucia.

The Pitbulls have been preparing for the regional competition since May.

Nathan Matthew of St. Joseph’s Academy will captain the 15-member squad, which also includes Erije Joseph, Aiden Lewis, Tristan Thibou, Yohan Nicholas, Gabriel Desuza, Noah Massiah, Iczjaire Sebastian, Kadeem Simon, Raheem Sawyer, Jahaziel Santana, Elijah Charles, Kamal Mason, Marcus Murphy and Zende Dorsett.

The team is coached by Cedric David, Bradbury Browne and Edward Shaw. Oleno Knight serves as manager, while Carl Knight is the school basketball coordinator.

The Pitbulls will open their campaign against ECA Tigers at 2 p.m. Tuesday before facing ECA Lions at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

They will meet D-UP Academy at 4 p.m. Thursday and close out the competition against BFTF at 2 p.m. Friday.
