The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission has issued a set of do’s and don’ts for voters as polling continues across Antigua and Barbuda, urging electors to follow procedures to ensure a smooth and orderly election.

Polling stations opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 6 p.m., with officials reminding voters to follow instructions from presiding officers and have their voter identification cards ready before entering polling stations.

Electors are also being advised to carefully review the ballot, pay attention to party symbols, and make their mark for only one candidate. Those unsure about the process are encouraged to seek guidance from election officials.

At the same time, the Commission has outlined several restrictions aimed at maintaining order and neutrality at polling stations.

Voters are not allowed to use mobile phones or smartwatches in voting areas, with provisions in place for such devices to be held upon entry. Authorities have also warned against disruptive or disrespectful behaviour at polling stations.

Electors are further reminded not to wear party colours when voting and to avoid bringing or displaying political paraphernalia within 100 yards of polling stations.

The Commission said adherence to these rules is essential to preserving the integrity of the electoral process as voters continue to cast ballots throughout the day.
