The Antiguan and Barbudan leadership just announced that it will accept, from the USA, seven third-national deportees per quarter for an unspecified period of time.

Seven deportees per quarter works out to be at least 2 deportees per MONTH.

Think about that for a minute!

The Antiguan and Barbudan people, in the midst of a major violent crime wave, have been sacrificed by its leaders to be involved in an experiment to accept, at least 2 deportees of unknown character and criminal record every month.

The leadership of this country who is ill-equipped to tackle the current crime wave is now asking our women and children to trust them to keep them safe, with the assimilation of deportees, as a magnanimous gesture to the US.

Why would any sane government which is attempting to bring violent crime under control, seek to complicate matters by volunteering to take on deportees of unknown and possibly questionable character?

Simply making the penalties stiffer provides no guarantee of deterrence from crime, when the crime fighting effort is subpar. And who says that the would-be criminals are afraid of being incarcerated?

As the PM recently inferred in Parliament, the current prisoners have good complexions and are living their best lives in prison.

We are reminded of a statement by Marco Rubio, the head of the US State Department that “The president was elected to keep America safe and to get rid of a bunch of perverts and pedophiles out of our country.”

Just imagine, getting rid of these deportees was a promise by the US president to keep his American people safe by offloading these deportees to other countries, despite the vast resources available to the President of the United States. His crime rate may come down.

Yet, our own leadership has so little regard for the people of Antigua and Barbuda, that it is willing to accept these perverts and pedophiles regardless of what that implies for the safety of the Antigua and Barbuda people.

Maybe this is why so many Antiguans and Barbudans prefer to remain in the USA. They are obviously safer there.

This act to accept deportees by our leadership declares loudly that they care far more about the safety interest of the United States than they do the people of Antigua and Barbuda.

We already know that foreign investors come first but now, not even our sovereignty is worth defending.

Poor Antigua and Barbuda you are no longer fair.

Such stark hypocrisy!

Imagine a government that is gong-ho at collecting the money for reparations but cares nothing of the current descendants’ safety.

Is this really what we want as Antiguan and Barbudans?

You have suffered a lot already:

1. Your Barbudan lands have been taken from you.

2. Your Booby Alley lands have been taken from you.

3. Your country’s afro-centric identity has been exchanged for foreign national votes.

4. For the foreseeable future, your child will not get a visa to study in the US.

5. Fuel prices and electricity rates are wiping out your paycheck.

6. Your ABST rates jumped from 15% to 17%.

7. You have lost your cancer treatment center.

8. Cost of living has gone through the roof.

Your homeland has now become a dumping ground for US deportees who pose a threat to American citizens.

How much more are you willing to lose?
