Antigua and Barbuda swimmer Isabel Nicholas delivered a standout performance at the Goodwill Swimming Championships in Trinidad, capturing six gold medals, two silver medals and the High Point Trophy for her age group.
Nicholas emerged as Antigua and Barbuda’s top performer at the championships, setting seven new age-group records during the competition.
Among her achievements was a new record in the 50-metre backstroke, where she clocked 34.54 seconds to break an 11-year-old age-group mark of 35.56 seconds set by Chelsea Winter in 2015.
Nicholas also established a new Goodwill meet record in the 100-metre butterfly with a time of 1:11.70.
Her performance further underlined her potential ahead of CARIFTA 2027. Nicholas has already met or surpassed the qualifying standards for the regional championships in at least eight events.
The Ministry of Sports congratulated Nicholas on her achievements, describing her performance as outstanding and saying she continues to show “tremendous promise.”
The ministry also congratulated the entire Antigua and Barbuda swimming team on its performance throughout the championships, praising the swimmers for representing the nation with pride.
