Antigua and Barbuda’s Abigail Piper has departed for Guyana, where she will represent the twin-island nation at the Miss Caribbean Beauty and Intelligence Pageant on August 22nd.

The regional competition is being held at the National Cultural Centre in Georgetown, giving Piper another opportunity to represent Antigua and Barbuda on the regional stage after visa-related challenges prevented her from competing in the Miss Caribbean Universe Pageant in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, in June.

The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission had announced that Piper was unable to participate in that competition because of visa and travel restrictions it said were beyond the control of both Piper and the organisation.

Attention now turns to Guyana, where Piper will compete against regional contestants in a pageant focused on beauty, intelligence, culture and personal development.

Piper brings extensive experience in pageantry and the performing arts to the competition.

She was first runner-up in the 2014 Christ the King High School Queen of the Forms Pageant before winning Teen Splash in 2016. She received a National Cultural Award in 2017 for her contributions to the performing arts.

In 2025, Piper represented St. John’s Rural North in the Labour Queen Show, placing second runner-up and winning Miss Photogenic. She later finished first runner-up in the Antigua’s Queen of Carnival Pageant, where she also captured Best Interview and Best Talent.

Her performing arts background includes acting, singing and dance. Piper has appeared in several Antigua Film Academy productions and is a member of the local band de Alphas.

She is also an advocate for youth empowerment and financial literacy and recently conducted a primary school tour in St. John’s Rural North, engaging students on financial literacy, time management and academic excellence while donating financial literacy books to school libraries.

Piper holds an associate degree in entrepreneurship from Antigua State College and a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Rutgers University, which she earned with distinction in 2022.

The Antigua Barbuda Queen of Carnival organisation, announcing her departure, wished Piper success as she carries the country’s flag in Guyana.
