Antigua and Barbuda’s new Performing Arts Centre is expected to be completed by the end of September, providing a modern venue for concerts, theatrical productions and other cultural events.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne said the government’s total investment in acquiring, retrofitting and equipping the facility will likely reach approximately $25 million.
“It will be one of the finest performing arts facilities, certainly within the OECS and beyond,” Browne said during the Browne and Browne Show.
The fully air-conditioned centre will accommodate 900 patrons and include mezzanine seating.
Officials are also considering temporary parking arrangements at the Rising Sun cricket field until work on the centre’s permanent parking area is completed. A shuttle service could transport patrons between the cricket field and the venue.
Browne said the project forms part of the government’s broader investment in the performing arts and creative industries.
The facility is expected to provide local performers with a purpose-built venue for major productions while strengthening Antigua and Barbuda’s capacity to host regional and international cultural events.
