Antigua and Barbuda’s sprint team made a strong start to its Commonwealth Games campaign in Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday, with Cejhae Greene and Geolyna Dowdye both advancing to the semifinals of their respective 100-metre events.

Greene comfortably won his men’s 100m heat in a season-best time of 10.12 seconds, securing automatic qualification for the semifinals.

The experienced sprinter controlled the race from the start and crossed the finish line well ahead of the field, continuing his pursuit of a Commonwealth Games medal.

The Antigua Barbuda Athletic Association said Greene will return to the track for the men’s 100m semifinals on Tuesday.

In the women’s competition, Dowdye also booked her place in the semifinals after finishing second in Heat Three in 11.28 seconds.

Her performance was enough to earn an automatic qualifying spot, keeping Antigua and Barbuda represented in both the men’s and women’s sprint semifinals.

The two athletes will now look to progress to the finals as Antigua and Barbuda continues its campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
