APUA, and the Hon. Melford Nicholas Acknowledge Fuel Leak at Former Friars Hill Facility

    — The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) confirms that a fuel leak has been identified involving a storage tank located at the former Friars Hill Facility.

Upon becoming aware of the situation, APUA immediately initiated the appropriate internal response measures and engaged the relevant authorities, including the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), the Antigua and Barbuda Police Force, the Central Board of Health, the Development Control Authority (DCA), and other stakeholders to assess the situation and determine the most appropriate and efficient course of action.

Minister with responsibility for APUA Hon. Melford Nicholas , who is also the constituency representative for St. John’s City East, emphasized the importance of swift action: “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our residents while addressing this leak. Our primary focus is to mitigate any potential environmental impact and safeguard the community.”
