    ABCAS Partners with UWI Mona and ABNTA to Host Electric Vehicle Battery Technologies Workshop

    The Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS), in collaboration with The University of the West Indies, Mona and the Antigua and Barbuda National Training Agency (ABNTA), has officially commenced the Electric Vehicle Battery Technologies Workshop with an opening ceremony at the ABCAS Muriel O’Mard Campus.

    The four-day workshop, taking place from May 5–8, 2026, brings together regulators, fleet managers, energy and transport agencies, electric utilities, standards units and solid waste management stakeholders for focused training in emerging electric vehicle technologies.

    Remarks were delivered by Dr. E. Jonah Greene, President of ABCAS, and Ms. Latoya Reynolds, Principal of the Harrison Centre. Representatives from The University of the West Indies, Mona and the Antigua and Barbuda National Training Agency also addressed participants, reinforcing the importance of regional collaboration in advancing sustainable energy and electric mobility.

    Dwayne Edwards, Project Manager at the Department of Environment, also brought remarks, emphasizing the need to strengthen national capacity in this evolving sector.

    The training is supported through funding from the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) via its International Climate Initiative (IKI), in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

    Participants who successfully complete the workshop and daily assessments will receive a Certificate of Completion.
