Public servants in Antigua and Barbuda are expected to receive all outstanding back pay by the end of April, as the government moves into the final phase of disbursements.

The Treasury Department said payments are already in progress, with some ministries fully settled from April 2 and another round due by April 10.

The retroactive payments stem from union agreements that led to salary increases and improved benefits, covering mainly 2019 to 2023 after adjustments took effect in January 2024.

Most public sector workers employed up to December 31, 2023 qualify, along with some former employees, while officials such as parliamentarians, ministers and judges are excluded.

All payments are being made by direct bank transfer with no taxes deducted, including any outstanding balances owed to workers who previously received partial sums.

Officials said final statements will be issued once the process is complete, urging patience as checks continue and encouraging eligible former workers to contact the Treasury if they have not yet been paid.
