    ABEC Releases Guidelines for nomination day

    Nomination Day for the General Elections in Antigua and Barbuda will take place on Monday 13th April 2026 from 8am to 6pm

    Candidates are eligible to be nominated once they are 21 years or older and must be a citizen of Antigua and Barbuda who has been residing in the country for at least one year prior to the election. Candidates must be proficient in the English language.

    The nomination paper shall state the full names, place of residence and the description of the candidate and the surname shall be placed first in the list of names.

    The Returning Officer oversees the nomination process and an individual who is nominated must consent to his or her nomination in writing.

    The nomination paper shall be subscribed by two electors a proposer, seconder and eight other electors all registered in the Constituency, in the presence of the returning officer.

    Once they have satisfied the guidelines of completing the nomination paper and have deposited the requisite $500 EC fee, they are eligible to be nominated as a candidate.

    The names of the nominated candidates are published in the media.
