Commissioner of Police, Mr. Everton Jeffers, has returned to the island following his participation in the Regional Security System (RSS) Chiefs of Security Meeting held in St. Lucia. This marks his first regional engagement since assuming office as Commissioner of Police.

Commissioner Jeffers departed the state on Tuesday, March 24, to attend the two-day meeting, which was convened from March 25 to 26, 2026. The meeting was chaired by Acting Commissioner of Police for St. Lucia, Mr. Ronald Phillip.

During the first day of deliberations, senior security officials from across the region, along with representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, CARICOM IMPACS, and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), delivered presentations on several critical areas.

Discussions focused on enhancing maritime domain awareness, advancing the RSS Logistics Hub under the Regional Maritime Sustainment Initiative, and examining strategies for the repositioning of the region’s disaster management framework.

Additional discussions addressed the implementation of the Justice Protection Act, the integration of Artificial Intelligence in law enforcement, and emerging issues related to regional energy security. Directors at RSS Headquarters also provided updates on ongoing initiatives and operational priorities.

Commissioner Jeffers expressed appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the high-level discussions, noting that the engagement facilitated meaningful collaboration and the exchange of ideas that will benefit both the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the wider national security framework.

Commissioner Jeffers returned to the state on Friday, March 27, 2026. During his absence, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Louisa Benjamin-Quashie, served as Acting Commissioner of Police.
