The Directorate of Gender Affairs marked International Women’s Day 2026 with the “Give to Gain” Spotlight Series and a successful Health Fair, bringing essential services, health education, and recognition to the community.

At the Health Fair held on March 6, 2026, the Directorate recognised four outstanding women as Spotlight Series winners for their impact and service: Judith Peets, Azara Lavia, Rita Phillip-Harris, and Tanya Ambrose. The presentation formed part of the day’s opening, setting the tone for a celebration of women’s leadership, contribution, and wellbeing.

The Health Fair welcomed over 60 participants, who benefited from health information, guidance, and onsite support made possible through a strong network of partners: Medical Benefits Scheme, Planned Parenthood, Caribbean Pharmaceuticals, AIDS Secretariat, EyeMobile, Ministry of Health, Happy Healthy You, and the Antigua and Barbuda Network of Rural Women Producers/Processors.

“The Spotlight Series allows us to publicly honour women who lead with purpose and give back in ways that uplift others,” said Niketa Black, Senior Programme Officer and Coordinator for International Women’s Day 2026 at the Directorate of Gender Affairs. “We are also pleased with the turnout and the strong participation from our partners, which made the Health Fair meaningful and accessible.”

The Directorate extends sincere gratitude to its sponsors for supporting International Women’s Day 2026 activities and helping to make the Health Fair possible: Citizenship by Investment Unit, Premier Beverages, Sagicor, Stonewall Reloaded, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Special Security Services, Perry Bay Supermarket, Barbara Carr, and Joy Saunders.

The Directorate of Gender Affairs remains committed to advancing gender equality, strengthening community wellbeing, and creating platforms that celebrate women’s achievement while connecting people to practical support and services.
