One year after being elected to Parliament, Rawdon Turner, the Member of Parliament for St. Peter and Minister of Social and Urban Transformation, says his first year in office has focused on listening, learning and laying the foundation for future progress.

In a social media post reflecting on the anniversary, Turner said the past year “has not been about milestones or titles,” but about understanding the needs of the people he represents and beginning the work to address them.

“This first year has not been about milestones or titles — it has been about learning, listening, and laying the groundwork,” Turner wrote. “We have started important work together, but I am very clear-eyed about this: there is still a lot more to be done.”

Turner acknowledged that change takes time and said meaningful progress requires sustained effort and collaboration at the community level. “Progress does not happen overnight. Communities are built step by step, conversation by conversation, solution by solution,” he said.

He noted that the challenges facing St. Peter and the wider country demand “patience, persistence, and partnership,” and pledged to remain engaged and transparent with residents as work continues.

“I remain committed to walking this journey with you — staying present in the communities, being honest about what can and cannot be done, and working every day to turn plans into real improvements for people’s lives,” Turner said.

He thanked residents of St. Peter for their support over the past year and expressed appreciation to the wider public for the opportunity to serve. “This is not the destination. It is the beginning,” Turner added. “And together, we will continue the work.”
