23-Year-Old Dominican National Killed in Early-Morning Scooter Crash

A 23-year-old man from Dominica died early Sunday after crashing his scooter on Popeshead Street in St. John’s, prompting an outpouring of grief from Dominican communities in Antigua and Wesley.

Police said Joshua Alexander, who lived in Light Foot, lost control of his black scooter around 2 a.m. and slammed into a wall and sidewalk near Pita Pocket. Emergency responders found no signs of life, and a doctor later pronounced him dead at 3:16 a.m.

Throughout the day, friends and relatives in Antigua and Dominica shared messages of shock and heartbreak on social media, remembering Alexander as a humble young man whose death “doesn’t feel real.”

Police have extended condolences to his family, and the investigation continues.
