A 43-year-old man died Saturday morning from gunshot wounds sustained in an attack outside his home, police said.

Louis Armstrong Jr. was shot early Friday as he exited his vehicle at his Fort Road residence. He suffered multiple injuries to the head, chest, eyes and left hand and was rushed to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where medical staff worked through the night to keep him alive.

He died around 7:24 a.m. Saturday, and the case has been upgraded to a murder investigation. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them.

Armstrong’s death has shaken the community, with relatives and neighbours describing it as yet another tragic sign of rising gun violence.
