The University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus will host its 2025 graduation ceremony on October 11, celebrating a record 200 graduates — more than double last year’s figure.

The event, themed _“Pelicans in an AI-Driven Future: Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow,”_ will be broadcast live on Flow Evo and UWI TV Global. Organisers describe it as a celebration of perseverance, excellence, and innovation, where academic achievement and regional development intersect.

Campus Principal Professor Justin Robinson, speaking at the recent matriculation ceremony, said the milestone reflects the institution’s continued growth since its opening in 2019. He noted that overall enrolment now exceeds 1,300 students, and the campus expects to pass the 1,500 mark with its January intake.

A total of 443 students were admitted this year from a record 750 applicants, leaving about 40 percent of hopefuls without places. Robinson highlighted the growing competitiveness of the campus and its role in expanding access to higher education across the Eastern Caribbean.

The October 11 graduation will begin at 4 p.m. in Antigua and Barbuda, with simultaneous broadcasts across the Caribbean. The ceremony will honour students from multiple faculties, marking what the university describes as both a moment of personal triumph and a step forward for the region’s human capital development.
