Senator Michael Joseph has introduced a new alert system, named the “Chantel Alert,” to be used in cases of child abductions across the nation. The proposal, aimed at improving the rapid response to abductions, was presented to cabinet colleagues earlier this week.

During the presentation, Joseph explained that the system would serve as a mechanism to notify the public about individuals involved in such crimes, enabling quicker action and awareness within communities. He emphasized that the initiative is named in honor of Chantel Crump, in light of the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the first documented case of abduction that quickly escalated, raising public concern.

“The Chantel Alert will provide a dedicated system for immediate public notification when children are abducted,” Joseph stated. “It’s crucial for law enforcement and the community to have tools that can quickly mobilize resources and assist in the safe recovery of abducted children.”
